Sasol Bursary 2024 Requirements

The Sasol bursary for 2024 targets academically excellent South African students pursuing full-time degrees in engineering, science, and technology at approved universities. Key requirements include citizenship, specific academic results, and enrollment in designated programs[1][3][6].

General Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen (by birth, with a valid ID)[1][2][3][6].
  • Must be in Matric (Grade 12) or have completed Matric, or be studying the relevant degree already[1][3].
  • Must have acceptance or provisional acceptance for full-time undergraduate studies at a South African public university (UNISA not eligible except for Mine Surveying)[1][7].
  • Bursaries cover only selected BEng, BSc, and approved science and technology degrees (not diplomas)[1][6].
  • Intended for studies at an accredited and approved SA university. Most funding is not available for University of Technology, except for Mine Surveying[7].

Academic Requirements:

  • BEng and BSc applicants:
    • Minimum of Level 6 (70–79%) in Mathematics[1][6].
    • Minimum of Level 6 (70–79%) in Physical Science[1][6].
    • For English: At least Level 5 (60–69%) for English First Additional/ Home Language, or Level 4 (50–59%) for English Second Additional Language[1][7].
  • Current university students (2nd, 3rd, 4th year):
    • Must have achieved minimum 60% average for all modules in the preceding year[5][6].
    • Must be able to complete studies within the minimum time (no extended periods permitted)[1].

Sasol Foundation Bursary Additional Requirements:

  • Must be under 25 years old[5][6].
  • Must be from Sasol fence-line communities, a child of a Sasol employee, or a Khanyisa shareholder[5].
  • Combined household income must be below R600,000 per year[5][6].
  • For STEM fields, must have achieved at least 60% (Level 5) in all subjects/modules[5].
  • May apply only if currently in Matric or completed Matric in the last year[5].

Additional Notes:

  • Shortlisted candidates must be available for online psychometric testing and interviews[7].
  • Application must be submitted online by the specified deadline; emailed or late applications are not considered[3].
  • A comprehensive package is provided, covering tuition, registration, accommodation, meal allowances, books, computer/calculator, and a monthly stipend[4][5].
