Arcadia Finance loan requirements are short. According to Arcadia, you must be over 18, be employed with that employment having lasted more than six months, and ask for a loan of no more than eight times your monthly income. Those are the only basic criteria it publishes.
Arcadia Finance is not a lender. It describes itself as an online loan comparison tool, not a credit provider, and says it only works with NCR-registered credit providers. Your application goes through its loan broker partners to banks and lenders, and each lender sets its own terms and amounts based on your circumstances. Meeting Arcadia’s criteria gets you offers to compare, not an approved loan.
Eligibility Requirements at a Glance
- Over 18 years old
- Employed, with your employment having lasted for more than six months
- A requested loan of no more than eight times your monthly income
- A credit record and existing debt that the lender judges affordable (the lender decides this, not Arcadia)
On its site, Arcadia says offers range from R100 to R350 000, depending on your needs and eligibility. Repayment terms are stated as 6 to 72 months in its example, although another part of the site says 3 to 72 months, so check the term on the actual offer. Arcadia states a maximum annual interest rate of 28%, as regulated by the NCR, and says lenders’ rates may start as low as 11%. Lenders may add initiation and monthly service fees. The rate, fees and amount are set by the individual lender.
Income and Affordability Requirements
Arcadia asks for employment of more than six months and a loan of no more than eight times your monthly income. On a monthly income of R10 000, that guideline caps the request at R80 000.
The lender then makes the real decision. Under the National Credit Act, a credit provider must take reasonable steps to assess your understanding of the risks and costs, your debt repayment history, and your existing financial means, prospects and obligations before it enters a credit agreement. You must answer those questions truthfully. A loan that fits Arcadia’s guideline can still be declined, or offered at a lower amount, if the numbers do not work for the lender.
Credit and Financial Requirements
Arcadia says checking your options through its service is free and will not affect your credit score. Arcadia does not publish a minimum income or credit score; those are set by each lender.
Before you apply, it helps to:
- Get your credit report and dispute any errors with the bureau. The National Credit Regulator says you have the right to one free credit report from each registered credit bureau once a year
- Pay any accounts that are in arrears, since missed payments weigh heavily in a lender’s decision
- Avoid applying separately to several lenders at once while you compare
If you have applied for debt review, the National Credit Act bars you from entering new credit agreements, other than a consolidation agreement, until specified events occur, such as the debt counsellor rejecting the application, a court order or a clearance certificate.
Documents and Verification Required
Arcadia does not publish a document list. The lender that makes you an offer sets its own verification requirements. Lenders typically verify your identity, income, address and bank account before paying out, so it helps to have these to hand:
- Your South African ID
- Proof of residence, such as a utility bill or lease agreement in your name
- Your latest payslips
- Your latest bank statements
- Your employer’s details and your banking details for the payout
Treat that list as typical, not as Arcadia’s rules. Upload exactly what the lender asks for in its offer.
How to Apply and Improve Approval Readiness
Here is how to apply for a loan at Arcadia Finance:
- Go to the official site at arcadiafinance.co.za and fill in the online application with your details and the amount you want.
- Review the personalised offers from the lenders Arcadia works with (it says up to 19 banks and lenders).
- Compare the interest rate, fees, monthly repayment and total cost of each offer. The offers are non-binding, so you can accept or decline them.
- Complete the chosen lender’s verification and read its credit agreement before you sign.
To improve your chances, ask for an amount and term the lender will see as affordable, keep your credit record up to date and make sure your payslips and bank statements match the income you declare. Check that the lender named on the agreement is registered with the National Credit Regulator, which says all credit providers must register before granting credit. Do not pay any upfront fee to get a loan; the NCR warns consumers against this.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Arcadia Finance registered in South Africa?
Arcadia Finance is a brand owned and managed by Draivi Media Oy, a Finnish company (business ID FI-24645516). It describes itself as a comparison tool, not a credit provider, and its site does not list its own NCR registration number. Arcadia says it only works with NCR-registered credit providers, so the registration that matters is the lender’s. Check the lender’s registration number on its offer and credit agreement.
What is the Arcadia Finance address?
Arcadia lists N°5 Sturdee Avenue, Suite 301, Rosebank, Johannesburg, 2196 as a mailing address only. Applications are made online, and questions about a loan offer should go to the lender that made it.
Is Arcadia Finance a lender?
No. Arcadia compares loans and passes your application to its loan broker partners, who put it to banks and lenders. It also names Myloan.co.za as a partner. The credit agreement you sign is with the lender.
Does Arcadia Finance charge a fee?
Arcadia says comparing loans through its service is completely free and non-binding. The lender you choose may charge an initiation fee and a monthly service fee. Arcadia’s own example shows R30 000 over 36 months at 28% costing R1 360 a month including those fees.
Will using Arcadia Finance affect my credit score?
Arcadia says checking your options with it is free and will not impact your credit score. The lender you apply to will check your credit record as part of its assessment.
How much can I borrow through Arcadia Finance?
Arcadia says offers range from R100 to R350 000, depending on your needs and eligibility, subject to the lender’s assessment. Its guideline is that the loan should not be more than eight times your monthly income.
