The Diploma in Supply Chain Management at TUT is a three-year, NQF 6 qualification offered on the Pretoria Campus with a January intake only. For the 2027 intake it needs an NSC with a bachelor’s or diploma endorsement, English at level 4, Mathematics or Technical Mathematics at level 3 or Mathematical Literacy at level 4, and an APS of at least 24 (excluding Life Orientation). Commercial subjects are recommended. Source: the 2027 General Information for First Year Enrolment.
Mathematical Literacy qualifies, so you do not need Mathematics for this diploma.

Academic and Minimum Admission Requirements
TUT requires an NSC (NQF 4) with at least six subjects, including English. Nationally, the legal minimum for a diploma is an NSC with at least 30% in the language of learning and teaching of the institution and an achievement rating of 3 (40-49%) or better in four recognised 20-credit subjects; for a bachelor’s degree it is a rating of 4 (50-59%) or better in four such subjects. TUT then applies its own, higher, programme-specific requirements.
Other routes are listed too. Applicants with a Nated 191 N5 in Supply Chain Management (50% in all modules) may be considered, and N6 Supply Chain Management holders with 50% may be exempted from certain first-year modules. On the NC(V) NQF 4 route you need a bachelor’s or diploma endorsement, 50% for English, 40% for Mathematics or 50% for Mathematical Literacy, 40% for Life Orientation and 50% in three other vocational subjects in the listed fields, with an APS of 24. An APS of 22 to 23 must do the TUT potential assessment.
Subjects, APS and Qualification Requirements
Life Orientation and any subject in which you achieved level 1 are not counted in your APS. Because the diploma accepts Mathematical Literacy at level 4, it is open to applicants who did not take Mathematics; the faculty rule is that Management Sciences accepts either.
Certificate in supply chain management: no higher certificate or short-course certificate in supply chain management appears in the 2027 first-year brochure. TUT’s supply chain qualifications are this diploma and, through TUT Online, a fully online Advanced Diploma in Supply Chain Management. The Advanced Diploma is postgraduate-level and needs a national diploma or Diploma in Supply Chain, or an equivalent NQF Level 6 qualification of at least 360 credits. Applications close on 16 January 2027 for a 1 February 2027 start, over one year full-time or two years part-time. Check TUT’s short-course listings if you want a non-degree certificate.
Documents and Application Requirements
For the 2027 intake, TUT asks for the following.
- Proof of payment of the R240 application fee (deposit to ABSA, with your ID number as the reference)
- A certified copy of your identity document or card
- A certified copy of your National Senior Certificate, or your final Grade 11 results if you are currently in Grade 12
- A certificate of equivalence from SAQA or the CHE, if you hold an alternative or international qualification. TUT cannot obtain it for you, but you should start your application while it is in process
The application fee is compulsory for all first-time applicants, payable once and strictly non-refundable. Use your own email address when you apply; TUT says not to use anyone else’s.
Selection, Intake and Eligibility Considerations
The diploma closed on 30 September 2026 for the 2027 intake; see TUT’s programme closing dates to check whether it is still open. TUT warns that a programme may close once it is full, even before its deadline.
You may apply on Grade 11 or mid-year Grade 12 results and receive provisional admission pending your final results. Acceptance depends on capacity under TUT’s Student Enrolment Plan, and first-time entering students get preference. After the diploma, further study listed by TUT is the Advanced Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma, MMSc and DMSc in Supply Chain Management; the brochure names careers such as buyer, materials manager, logistics manager, distribution manager and warehouse manager. To check your application status, go to tut.ac.za, open Study@TUT, choose Check Your Status, enter your ID number and submit. Your reference number, status and a printable letter are then shown.
