Academic and Minimum Admission Requirements
The prospectus is organised by faculty, covering Arts and Design, Economics and Finance, Engineering and the Built Environment, Humanities, Information and Communication Technology, Management Sciences, and Science. Health sciences programmes including nursing sit within the Faculty of Science.
TUT calculates the Admission Point Score from your matric results, excluding Life Orientation entirely and excluding any subject in which you achieved an achievement level of 1. Your score is therefore built from your remaining subjects. The prospectus states these exclusions directly on its APS explanation page.
Subjects, APS and Qualification Requirements
Each programme entry lists compulsory subjects with a minimum level, and separately lists recommended subjects. Recommended subjects are not entry requirements but indicate what the programme assumes you have studied.
Campus codes are used throughout the prospectus tables, covering Arcadia, Polokwane, Pretoria, eMalahleni, GaRankuwa, Mbombela, Soshanguve South, Soshanguve North, Distance Education and Online. The same programme is not offered at every campus.
Documents and Application Requirements
Applications normally require the following.
- Proof of payment of the R240 application fee
- A certified copy of your identity document or card
- A certified copy of your National Senior Certificate, or your final Grade 11 results if you are currently in Grade 12
- A SAQA evaluation certificate, if you hold a foreign qualification
Selection, Intake and Eligibility Considerations
First-year applications for the 2027 academic year opened on 1 April 2026. Closing dates are set per programme at 15 June, 31 July or 30 September, and TUT warns that a programme may close as soon as it is full even if the published deadline has not passed.
The application fee for the 2027 academic year is R240, compulsory for all first-time applicants, payable once and strictly non-refundable. Required documents are proof of payment, a certified copy of your identity document, and a certified copy of your National Senior Certificate or final Grade 11 results.
