NATED Engineering courses are offered in various levels, from N1 to N6, with each level having specific entry requirements. Here is an overview of the requirements for each level:
- N1: Pass Grade 9 with at least 30% in Mathematics[1].
- N2: Obtain an N1 Certificate with Maths and Science, or pass Grade 12 with a minimum of 30% in Mathematics[1].
- N3: Obtain an N2 Certificate with Maths and Science, or pass Grade 12 with at least 40% in Mathematics and Science[1].
- N4: Obtain an N3 Certificate with Maths and Science, or pass Grade 12 with a minimum of 50% in Mathematics and Science[1].
- N5: National Certificate: N4 Engineering Studies[1].
- N6: National Certificate: N5 Engineering Studies[1].
Alternative institutions and TVET colleges may set slightly different entry requirements. For instance, some colleges specify that for N1 Engineering Studies, Grade 9–11 is sufficient, while for N4 and above, a National Senior Certificate (Grade 12), an N3 Certificate, or a National Certificate (Vocational) level 4—with Mathematics and Engineering Science—are required[3][5][7].
After completing N6, students generally require a minimum practical workplace experience of 18 to 24 months in a relevant field to obtain the National Diploma[5].
