Amazon Delivery Partner Requirements

There are two main pathways to become an Amazon delivery partner: joining the Amazon Delivery Service Partner (DSP) program to operate a fleet of vans, or becoming an Amazon Flex driver to deliver packages using your own vehicle. Below are the requirements for each:

  • Amazon DSP Program (Delivery Service Partner):
    • Business Ownership: You must have ownership or legal permission to operate the entity you are applying with.[7]
    • Insurance: You need to provide a certificate of insurance to Amazon as part of the application process.[7]
    • Startup Costs: A minimum startup cost of around $10,000 is required.[1]
    • Screening & Interview: Applicants must pass Amazon’s screening process and an interview.[1][3]
    • Training: Approved partners and their drivers attend a multi-day training academy before starting deliveries.[5]
    • Management: As a DSP, you will be responsible for managing your own fleet, drivers, payroll, and delivery operations.[1][3]
  • Amazon Flex Driver:
    • Age: Must be at least 21 years old.[2][4][6][8]
    • Driver’s License: Must hold a valid driver’s license.[2][4][6]
    • Social Security Number: A valid SSN is required for background checks.[2][4]
    • Vehicle: Must own or have access to a qualifying vehicle (usually a 4-door sedan, SUV, van, or pickup truck).[2][4][6]
    • Insurance & Registration: Vehicle must have valid insurance and registration.[2][4][6]
    • Smartphone: Must have a compatible iPhone (6s or newer, iOS 13+) or Android device (Android 6.0+, at least 2GB RAM).[2][6]
    • Bank Account: Required for direct deposit of payments.[2][6]
    • Background Check: Must pass a background check, including a review of criminal and driving records.[2][4][6][8]
    • Physical Fitness: Ability to carry and deliver packages in various weather conditions is necessary.[6]
