Diploma In Psychology At Unisa Requirements

The minimum requirements for admission to a psychology-related diploma at UNISA (University of South Africa) vary depending on the specific programme, but UNISA does not currently offer an undergraduate “diploma in psychology.” Instead, UNISA offers postgraduate diplomas, such as the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Psychometry and the Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology of Education.

For the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Psychometry (Qualification code: 90185), the requirements are:

  • An appropriate NQF 7 qualification in the field of industrial and organisational psychology or psychology from an accredited provider of higher education[3].
  • A minimum of 65% for the psychology major(s), or for a selected number of NQF 7 modules in the qualification[3].
  • Completion of an online application questionnaire as part of the application[3].
  • Payment of an application fee of R140 after receiving a student number[3].
  • Application period for the 2025 academic year: 21 August to 11 October 2024[3].

For the Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology of Education (Qualification code: 90163), the requirements are:

  • A four-year Bachelor of Education (NQF Level 7), or
  • A three-year general Bachelor’s Degree plus a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (NQF Level 7), or
  • A four-year professional teaching qualification as well as a 120-credit Advanced Diploma in a cognate specialisation (NQF Level 7)[7].
  • Application fee: R140 after receiving a student number[7].
  • Application period for limited honours degrees and postgraduate diplomas for 2025: 13 to 27 January 2025[7].

UNISA does not offer a direct undergraduate diploma in psychology. Students interested in undergraduate study may pursue a Bachelor of Arts (BA) with a major in Psychology.
